2. Local-first approach
Core calculator tools work without an account, and local calculations and history normally remain in your browser or app. The Free web app is supported by Google banner advertising. Verified Pro access removes those web-app ads.
3. Local device and browser storage
Calculations, history, settings, notes, favorites, cached rates, and web-app preferences are normally stored on your device or in your browser. Browser storage can include localStorage and IndexedDB. You control local data by clearing history, browser data, or uninstalling the app.
4. Smart features and permissions
Smart uses calculation rules and, where available, optional on-device features. Camera, photo-library, microphone, and speech permissions are requested only after you choose scanning, image import, or voice input. They are not used for advertising or background profiling.
5. Optional accounts, sync, and email
An account is optional and is not required for core calculator use. If you choose a magic link or cloud history, Supabase processes your email address, authentication session, profile, entitlement status, quota, and the history records you choose to sync. Email is used only for transactional authentication and support; we do not use it for marketing campaigns.
6. Smart and diagnostics
Web Smart runs locally in your browser and is limited to 10 requests per UTC day on the Free plan; it does not require an account or network connection. On first use we present a detailed notice about Improve Smart answers and Share usage analytics. After you continue, those preferences are enabled by default so we can improve reliability and product quality; you may change or withdraw them later under Account → Privacy & diagnostics.
7. Purchases and billing
Apple App Store and Google Play process native purchases and subscription status. Stripe processes web checkout and the customer portal. We receive only the purchase, entitlement, and account information needed to provide paid access; payment-card details are handled by the relevant payment provider.
8. Currency rates and other providers
When you request live currency conversion, the selected currencies and ordinary network information are sent to Frankfurter at api.frankfurter.app. We do not send your calculation history or account identity with that request. Providers process information under their own terms.
9. Website, Cloudflare, Google advertising, and cookies
Cloudflare hosts and protects the website and may process IP address, request time, URL, browser details, and security signals. On eligible Free web-app pages, Google AdSense may process cookies, device or network information, consent signals, and ad interactions to deliver and measure banner advertising. Google Privacy & Messaging supplies consent, rejection, management, and revocation controls where required. See the Cookies Policy for details.
10. Retention and security
Local data remains until you delete it, clear the app or browser, or uninstall, subject to your device backups. Cloud account data is retained while the account is active; deletion requests remove it subject to legal obligations and up to 30 days for sync tombstones and processed-operation identifiers. We use HTTPS and reasonable technical safeguards, but no system is completely secure.
11. Children
AskSum: Smart Calculator is a general productivity tool and is not directed to children below the digital-consent age in their country. We do not knowingly collect their personal information. A parent or guardian may contact us with concerns.
12. Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability. You can manage most local information directly. For cloud-account information or a deletion request, use Account deletion or contact [SUPPORT_EMAIL]. You may also complain to the applicable data-protection authority.
13. International processing and changes
Cloudflare, Supabase, Stripe, Apple, Google, and other providers may process information outside your country using their applicable safeguards. We may update this policy for legal, provider, or product changes and will publish a revised effective date.
